The LRT would preclude a streetcar in the Greenway that would serve all of the Greenway/Lake St. neighborhoods, not just the western side. The combination the Midtown Greenway streetcar plus LRT in the Kenilworth corridor (the “Network Alignment”) would serve more Minneapolis residents, employment, business nodes, neighborhoods, and transit-oriented development than the Greenway/Nicollet LRT. What’s more, the Greenway LRT would cost $500 to $600 million more than an LRT route going through Kenilworth.

SW LRT through the Greenway would be the middle alignment above. The Midtown Greenway Coalition endorses the Network Alignment (right above: Kenilworth LRT + Greenway streetcar), which provides a better transit system, costs less, & protects the Greenway.
